LedgerGuard

Explain the postings before changing the platform.

Payment-to-ledger diagnostics for finance and migration teams that need a traceable explanation of posting rules, reconciliation gaps and financial dependencies.

When to engage

A material posting stream cannot be explained end to end.

The ledger may balance while account attribution, reference handling, dates or exception routes remain unclear. LedgerGuard examines a bounded stream and records what the available evidence supports.

Relevant sponsors include finance transformation leads, financial controllers and migration programme owners. Delivery partners can commission a clearly bounded evidence workstream.

Symptoms

Questions that deserve an evidence trail.

01

Rules sit outside the core

Channel applications, interfaces, configuration and batch routines may contribute to the financial result. Which sources need to be traced?

02

Parallel-run differences keep returning

Teams can see a variance but cannot yet explain whether the cause is timing, mapping, reference handling or a missing event.

03

Suspense items have no clear owner

The exception is visible, but its source event, resolution path or accountable team remains uncertain.

What you receive

A reviewable payment-to-ledger evidence pack.

01
Scope and evidence inventoryDefine the stream, event population, period, systems, currencies, expected behaviour and supplied evidence.
02
Source-to-ledger traceConnect business events to posting instructions, observed entries, references, dates and reconciliation evidence.
03
Rule and dependency catalogueCite the source of each proposed rule; distinguish confirmed findings, assumptions, gaps and decisions.
04
Exception and coverage registerReport what was tested, what remains unexplained, materiality and accountable follow-up actions.
05
SME playback and decision briefReview the findings with finance and technology owners and state conditions for the next programme decision.

Start small

Begin with one event or one defined posting stream.

An introductory conversation establishes the decision and whether sufficient authorised evidence is available for a focused diagnostic.

You provide the process context, relevant accounting requirements, authorised system evidence and access to accountable finance and technology reviewers. Scope, effort and fees are agreed before work begins.

Capabilities left behind

Help your team maintain the explanation.

01

Finance can explain the entry

A reviewable link between the event, expected accounting requirement and observed posting.

02

Technology can locate the dependency

A cited rule and interface catalogue, with the limits of available evidence visible.

03

Programme owners can assign the gap

An exception register with ownership, next evidence and decision conditions.

Before we start

Practical questions.

Does a balanced ledger prove the postings are correct?

No. An entry can balance while using the wrong account, entity, reference, date or classification. The test must address the agreed accounting requirements and the defined event population.

Does a high coverage percentage establish cutover readiness?

No. Coverage describes only the tested scope. A material unexplained path, missing control or untested obligation can remain. Cutover decisions belong to the accountable programme and control owners.

Is this an audit opinion or accounting sign-off?

No. The service provides diagnostic findings, traceability and evidence for review. Formal audit opinions and accounting approvals remain with the appropriately appointed parties.

How are confidential materials handled?

Evidence access, permitted use, storage, retention and reviewer responsibilities are agreed before intake. Public examples use synthetic data; initial enquiries should contain only high-level context.

Your next decision

Discuss a posting or migration problem.

Start with the decision you need to make. Scope, evidence requirements, responsibilities and fees are agreed after an introductory conversation.

Capability transfer

Help your team apply and maintain the work.

A separately scoped workshop can support shared understanding of posting evidence, finance requirements or transition responsibilities.
